Internships
Gigawatt Global accepts interns throughout the year. Ability to work for an extended period (e.g. four months or more) is an advantage. We offer our interns the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the renewable energy industry and to work in a global business with a strong social mission. We are seeking people with excellent general research and writing skills; we are also looking for interns with expertise in engineering, finance, law, or energy policy. Interns must have excellent spoken and written English. For more information on internships contact Dr. Hanna Klein hanna.helena.klein@gigawattglobal.com.
A word from a recent intern:
"The first thing that you notice when you enter the Gigawatt Global office is that there are no walls, both literally and metaphorically. For an intern, this is an ideal environment as it quickly becomes clear that everyone in the office is accessible and approachable. It also means that right from the beginning you feel right in the thick of things when with one swivel of your chair you could be talking to the President, the COO, or anyone else who happens to be buzzing about the office. From the outset it is clear that the contribution of interns are highly valued by all, which is important because if not for this you may quickly feel intimidated by the tremendous vision and drive of the company.
From an intern’s perspective, one of the biggest advantages of coming to Gigawatt Global is the tremendous scope of things that you can learn, and areas in which you can make a difference. I personally came to the company looking to gain experience in engineering, but quickly came to learn how much finance, management, contracts law, international politics and even social media each play a big part in renewable energy development. What this means for an intern is that there is a great deal of flexibility as to where you can fit in the company, how you can help out, and what you can learn. So in terms of what roles you might find yourself performing, there is always a great range of ways that you can help, and with a little initiative, you can find the tasks that suit you best.
On top of this, the team is also more than willing to help you make the most of your internship experience. The team is more than happy to accommodate interns to go on field trips to visit the solar fields and other offices, take part in their investor day or even sit in on any meeting that is of interest to you.
The final aspect of Gigawatt Global that makes it stand out is its social conscience. It is refreshing and inspiring to be surrounded by people who genuinely want to make a difference in the world, both in terms of the environmental benefits of solar energy as well as the economic and social impact of bringing these projects to developing countries. It makes an enormous difference coming in each day feeling like you are having a positive influence on the world."
